At present,computer applications are increasingly penetrated into all aspects of process industry.Computer applications have been or will be lead to a comprehensive change and development for process industry.Based on chemical engineering industry,major fields of computer application technology such as industrial automatic control,fault diagnosis and detection and soft sensing are introduced carefully.Computer applications are the critical factor in information and automatization for process industry.Then,the main facing problems and solutions in above fields are discussed.Finally,some recommendations to development in the field of computer application for process industry are put out.
