The successful application of the open-type TMB to Dahuofang Water Conveyance Tunnel Project is fully described herein from the aspects of both the design and the construction;in which the whole construction processes of 3 TMBs, the construction measures under various excavation conditions and the methods for the treatments on water surge, collapse in the tunnel section with poor geological conditions, the main-bearing changing and blockage accident of TMB, etc. are also introduced. Furthermore, the successful application of belt conveyer suited with TMB, the development and application of the full-surrounding lining trolley and the inverted arch lining trolley are introduced as well. On the whole, all of these show a better prospect of the future development of the construction technologies for the underground engineering concerned.
