Modification of natural cellulose could obtain modified cellulose which is more activated.In this paper,pretreatment methods such as that of the physics,chemistry,biology and so on were summarized.The technologies of cellulose modification were introduced according to different reactions.The applications of modified cellulose in water treatment and air purification ware introduced as well.The future development of modified cellulose was prospected.
