Mass Transit computer-based singal-monitoring systems are the integrat ed ones with high reliability, which apply many kinds of modern technology such as field-bus, sensor techniques, computer network and data communication, and ar e the major safety supervision devices for mass transit. To construct a highly e ffective modern communication network is one of the urgent outstanding issues in the design of singal-monitoring systems. This paper presents an example of buil ding the wide area network used for the signal-monitoring system in an experimen tal route section. The paper also describes the network scheme and its design pr inciples.
