The methods of preparation of cationic cellulose are summarized in this paper. The main types of monomer and their grafting ways used in the cationization of cellulose are introduced. The characteristics of the methods ofpreparation of cationic cellulose are evaluated. The research progress made in the application of cationic cellulose in personal care commodity, textile dyeing, biomedicine and environmental protection is reviewed and the development tendencies of this functional material are discussed. Cationic cellulose will be widely used in the field of biomedicine and environmental protection in the future.
