虚拟油泥造型是一种新的计算机辅助工业设计方法,但目前虚拟油泥造型过程中使用的二维鼠标和键盘等人机交互设备无法体现油泥模型设计师的操作习惯,从而降低了造型过程的真实感和系统的交互能力,增加了造型过程的控制难度;根据虚拟油泥造型系统中刮削、填补和刮补造型操作的特点,考虑到设计操作中较为频繁的视图变换,研究了三维鼠标和力反馈设备的作用机理,提出了采用6自由度的三维鼠标和力反馈设备的新的交互方法,并使用Open Inventor开发包在虚拟油泥造型系统中进行了实现;该交互方法在虚拟油泥造型系统中得到了实际应用,效果良好,为设计人员创造力的发挥提供了一种新的途径.

Virtual clay modeling is a new computer-aided industrial design method. The current interface devices used in virtual clay modeling process, such as 2-dimensional mouse and keyboard, cannot meet the clay model designers' operation in real world. The modeling process lacks reality and decreases the system's interactive sense, which leads to more difficulties in controlling of modeling. According to the features of modeling operations in the virtual clay modeling system, which are cutting, pasting and cutting-compensating, and the frequent changes of viewing the designing model, a new interactive method is introduced based on the research of 3-dimensional mouse and force feedback device's mechanisms. This approach uses 3-dimensional mouse and force feedback device with 6 degrees of freedom as interface devices and is carried out in the system using Open Inventor which is a 3D graphics toolkit. In order to exert designers' creativities, the new interactive method has been applied practically in the virtual clay modeling system and has well-achieved modeling results.
