The paper reviewed in detail the research advances in the genetics of rice photoperiod -and thermo-sensitive male sterile gene and its breeding application , including the location of photoperiod -and thermo-sensitive male sterile genes, mode of fertility transformation, and mode and molecular mechanism of genetic effects .The paper also discussed some existing problems of dual-purpose genic male sterile rice lines in breeding and their solution strategy .
