Firstly, the sampling synchronization problems of line differential protection and other distributed sampling differential protection in smart substations are analyzed. Then, the necessity of sampling synchronization test carried out in project site is explained. The remote test method of differential protection sampling synchronization based on GPS precise time is mainly proposed and its specific implementation is put forward. The error characteristics of this method and the cause of the error are analyzed in detail. At last, the sampling synchronization test cases of line differential protections and transformer differential protections in 500 kV smart substations are given, which verifies the feasibility of this method in practical applications.
