变电站电缆沟是敷设电力电缆的地下专用通道，对于电缆的正常运行具有十分重要的作用。但是，变电站电缆沟在设计时一般是按自然排沙除泥考虑，在实际运行中发现，正常情况下自然排沙除泥可以满足运行要求，但遇异常的较大量泥沙时，自然排沙除泥不能满足要求，容易造成电缆沟堆积泥沙，运行人员有时候不得不手动进行排沙除泥作业，存在安全隐患，且费时费力。电缆沟自动排沙除泥装置的研制的目的就是在于解决上述问题，而提供一种省时省力，清理方便，清理彻底，有效清除安全隐患的新型自动排沙除泥装置。
