辽代的版刻事业曾盛极一时。上世纪60年代以来，先后在山西应县木塔、河北丰润天宫寺塔和内蒙古庆州白塔发现了辽代刻本佛经、书籍、杂刻和版刻佛画等印刷品300余件，显示出辽代雕版印刷业的高度成就。从中我们了解到，辽代雕刻印刷业的雕印流通机构和主持、编纂、校勘人员等已一应俱全，基本具备后世出版发行机构的雏形，对研究编辑出版业发展史具有重要意义。

료대적판각사업증성겁일시。상세기60년대이래，선후재산서응현목탑、하북봉윤천궁사탑화내몽고경주백탑발현료료대각본불경、서적、잡각화판각불화등인쇄품300여건，현시출료대조판인쇄업적고도성취。종중아문료해도，료대조각인쇄업적조인류통궤구화주지、편찬、교감인원등이일응구전，기본구비후세출판발행궤구적추형，대연구편집출판업발전사구유중요의의。
Woodblock printing flourished in Liao Dynasty. Since the 1970s more than 300 pieces of block-printed sutras, books,woodcut paintings and other printed matters of Liao Dynasty were found in Yingxian Wooden Pagoda in Shanxi,Fengrun Temple Pagoda in Hebei,and Qingzhou White Pagoda in Inner Mongolia,which shows the brilliant achievements of woodblock printing industry in Liao Dynasty. From that we can get some important information about the printing industry in Liao Dynasty. Editor-in-chief,compile,collate personnel and printing distribution institutions were readily available,and already had the prototype of later publishing agency,which are of great significance on the study of editing and publishing industry history.
