The pneumatic conveying technology has the advantages of high efficiency, energy saving, environmental protection, and has been widely used in the dust particle material conveying systems in the industries such as chemical, feed and iron-steel metallurgy. This paper describes the working principle of pneumatic conveying technology; modes of delivery, such as, subatmospheric pressure suction sent pneumatic conveying and positive pressure pneumatic conveying; and transportation mode choice according to the actual process requirements, to determine the transport capacity, material properties, transport distances. Application of pneumatic conveying technology in heavy non-ferrous metals smelting are reviewed. Pneumatic conveying technology applied to zinc concentrate delivery through improving technology has been successfully applied to ISP sintering dust. According to the property of materials in copper flash smelting process, the delivery in an appropriate way is put forward, providing the reference for design and selection of the material conveying technology for copper smelting plant powder. With the study and application of pneumatic conveying technology continues to progress, its application in heavy non-ferrous smelting industry will be more and more widely, and the effect will be more and more significant.
