Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) plays an increasingly important role in modern society,which is regarded as a novel technology about acquiring and processing information. However, the problem of self-localization, that is, determining where a given node is physically or relatively located in the networks, is yet extremely crucial for many applications. Based on the analysis of a great deal of recent technical reports and research results on WSN, presents common range-free localization algorithm for WSN, and describes some improved algorithms. Introduces the di-rections of research in this area.
