在中国的道德教育中，一直存在着对献身的强调。在和平年代，这未必是适当的。但突出修身则很有意义。从注重说献身转为注重说修身，有利于改变道德教育中“假大空”的毛病，确实提高德育的实效性。在回归修身的过程中，传统儒家智慧将会焕发出新的光辉，蔡元培的《中学修身教科书》是很优秀的德育教材。
