三层交换机集二层交换与三层路由功能于一体，由硬件在网络层按照IP地址进行线速转发，以满足网络应用的高带宽、低时延等需求。简单介绍了三层交换机的基本工作原理，简要描述了文中设计所采用的硬件平台，提出了一种具有较好可扩展性和可移植性的三层交换机软件架构，并对三层交换核心驱动的设计与实现进行了详细说明。通过主要性能测试表明本文设计的三层交换机性能较好，满足设计需求。

Layer3 switch, incorporating the functions of layer2 switching and layer3 routing, forwards with hardware the network packets in accordance with IP address at line speed, thus to meet the demand of high bandwidth and low latency by network application. This paper gives the basic working principle of layer3 switching, briefs the hardware platform of layer3 switch, and proposes a scalable and portable software architecture of layer3 switch, and then describes in detail the core design and implementation of layer3 switching. Finally experiment indicates that the designed layer3 switch is excellent in performance and the implementation meets the design requirement.
