A 72 day growth trial was conducted to study the effect of dietary zinc source on growth performance, 5'-nucleotidase and alkaline phosphatase activity of blood and vertebrae zinc accumulation of crucian carp. Fish with initial body weight of (3.33±0.22) g were randomly assigned into 3 treatments with 3 replicates in each treatment and 20 fish per replicate. A basal diet was formulated with conventional protein source. Fish in the control group were fed the bas-al diet (93.03 mg/kg Zn). The experimental groups were supplemented with 50 mg/kg Zn levels of zinc sulfate monohydrate(zinc sulfate group)and tetrabasic zinc chloride(tetrabasic zinc chlo-ride group) in basal diet. The results showed as follows: ①The rate of weight gain, daily gain and specific growth rate of Crucian carp in tetrabasic zinc chloride group was highest, and was significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05, P<0.01). And contrasted with zinc sulfate group, the rate of weight gain, daily gain and specific growth rate in tetrabasic zinc chlo-ride group increased by 5.38%, 3.19% and 4.2%(P>0.05). No significant differences were ob-served in the rate of weight gain and specific growth rate among zinc sulfate group and tetraba-sic zinc chloride group(P>0.05). Compared with the control group, all the experimental groups showed higher feed conversion rate(P>0.05). ②Contrasted with zinc sulfate group, the 5 ' nucle-otidase and alkaline phosphatase activity of blood in tetrabasic zinc chloride group in-creased by 173.02%(P<0.05) and 59.41%(P<0.05). ③The vertebrae zinc content in Tetra- basic zinc chloride group was 8.64% higher than that of zinc sulfate group, 15.66% higher than that of control group. These results showed that, the maximum production performance of Cru-cian carp can be improved by zinc supplementation in the basal diet at proper level. But the ef-fect of supplementation of different zinc sources was inconsistent. The biological potency of tet-rabasic zinc chloride was higher than zinc sulfate, and tetrabasic zinc chloride was more con-ductive to improving the prodution performance of Crucian carp.
