“服务社会”是高校的三大基本职能之一，湖北省委省政府极其重视发挥高校服务湖北地方发展的作用。湖北地方高校在社会服务上存在意识不强、定位不清、机制不够健全、能力有待提升等不足，应该更新教育理念，增强社会服务意识，主动对接湖北产业结构调整和发展培养地方急需人才，苦练内功提高科技应用水平，并健全社会服务机制，为“五个湖北”建设提供强力支撑。
“복무사회”시고교적삼대기본직능지일，호북성위성정부겁기중시발휘고교복무호북지방발전적작용。호북지방고교재사회복무상존재의식불강、정위불청、궤제불구건전、능력유대제승등불족，응해경신교육이념，증강사회복무의식，주동대접호북산업결구조정화발전배양지방급수인재，고련내공제고과기응용수평，병건전사회복무궤제，위“오개호북”건설제공강력지탱。
“Social service” is one of the three basic functions of universities. Hubei provincial party committee and government attach great importance to play the role of colleges in serving Hubei local development. Hubei local colleges and universities have shortcomings of weak consciousness, unclear positioning, inadequate mechanism, and the like in the social services. The ability should be improved. The local colleges and universities should update educational concepts, enhance social service awareness, and actively dock Hubei industrial structure for adjustment and development in training local urgently needed personnel. The local colleges and universities should exercise own ability and improve technology application level. Social service mechanism should be improved, thereby providing strong support for ‘five Hubei’ construction.
