Application and development status of the W-Cu composite materials in the area of electrical contacts, electronic packaging, EDM electrode, national defence, aerospace and other sophisticated technologies were briefly described. The manufacturing technologies of the W-Cu composite materials, such as infiltrating process, activated liquid phase sintering and chemical coprecipitation were introduced. Finally the future development direction was prospected.
