塞拉利昂矿到厂为块、粉混合矿，具有低硅高铝、块矿软熔性能差的特点，烧结生产中通过改善配矿结构，增加低铝矿，在配加15%塞拉利昂矿（该矿含铝7%左右）的情况下，保证了烧结矿的冶金性能。莱钢1000 m3高炉配加使用后，通过改善焦炭质量，控制渣中镁铝比，适当提高渣比，稳定高炉炉料结构等，保证了炉况的长期稳定顺行。塞拉利昂矿的使用，吨铁成本降低约25元。
