参照国家有关科技竞争力评价指标，通过评价体系的构建、指标权重的确定、城市综合竞争力的排序，从中部六省会城市2010-2012年的主要科技指标---科技投入、科技产出、科技与经济和社会协调发展、科技潜力4项一级指标进行比较分析，全面客观反映太原市近年来科技工作成就、发展优势和差距，并针对存在的差距，提出了提高太原市科技综合竞争力的建议与对策。
