In this article, it expatiated the development status of submarine pipeline for oil and gas transportation in China domestic and the abroad, and analyzed the development trend and technical demands for pipeline material. According to submarine pipeline characteristics, it pointed out the main development direction of low-carbon micro-alloying submarine pipeline, including large deformation resistance, high fatigue performance and high D/t ratio. In terms of the submarine pipeline corrosion, the bimetal-lined pipe with corrosion resistant alloy and nonmetallic flexible pipe is the main development direction for H2S/CO2 resistance gas field gathering pipeline material. Finally, it put forward the metallic compound pipe and mechanical compound pipe will be optimized selection according to the development status of the above products. It should improve independent development and manufacturing capacity of flexible pipe, and strengthen flexible pipe design and the development of production equipment.
