In this paper, firstly, I would like to give a review of the history of English reading theories. Secondly, I will elaborate the frame-work of the theory, which underlines the role of background knowledge of individuals when it is integrated to infer to make understanding much easier. And lastly, I will present several implications on teaching and learning of English reading from the theory.
