Reactive power optimization is an important link in the safe and economical operation of distribution network, in which low voltage reactive power compensation in the distribution network plays an important role. This article expounds on the principle and func-tion of reactive power compensation, makes analysis on major problems in reactive power compensation for low-voltage power distribution network in China, and describes the principle, form and method of reactive compensation on the low-voltage distribution network in or-der to provide reference for reactive power compensation for the power industry in the low voltage distribution network.
