The ecological environment of Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture (BMAP) is quite vulnerable . Along with the development of local economy ,the demands of monitoring environment are much more re-quired .Based ontheenvironmental monitoringsystem of BMAP ,this articleanalyses thecurrent abilities ofpre-fecturaland county level monitoring stations ,and points out the facing problems and challenges ,inorder tofind outa developing waywhich cansolve the contradictionbetween reality and development ,opportunities andchallenge .
