乌梅丸不仅有温脏安蛔的作用而主治蛔厥，更为重要的是其作为厥阴病的主方而治疗上热下寒证，其适应证涵盖了内、外、妇、儿各科疾病，被奉为多种疑难杂症的验方。文章论述了刘沈林教授在临床上善用乌梅丸，利用其酸苦合法、寒温并用、寓泻于补的组方特色，在辨证的基础上，用于治疗病机错综，寒热夹杂之消化系统疾病，如慢性难治性肠道疾病、胃食管病、慢性胆囊炎、糖尿病性胃轻瘫等，尤其对消化道恶性肿瘤之治疗，疗效尤著。临证之时，还需把握组方中主药之剂量、寒温之权重、特色药对之配合，并针对不同病种临床之特点，灵活化裁，方能收到良好疗效。
