海城滑石矿规模大，质量高。矿田含矿层主要为大石桥组三段及局部二段。含矿岩主要为：白云石大理岩、菱镁矿大理岩、绿泥石化白云大理岩、黑云母片岩薄层或绿泥绢云千枚岩等。矿体严格受褶皱、断裂构造控制。其矿床地质特征及成矿带特点为在海城地区寻找滑石矿提供了方向。
