In the romantic period of British literature,female writers were influenced both by traditional ethnic values and the cul-tural thoughts brought by French Revolution. They were lingering between being a“proper lady”and being a“writer”,and they tried refusing to“display”while“display”was a prevalent trend in that age. They were on the way of the pursuit of identity.
