The inter-basin water diversion is characterized as large water diversion amount and wide involvement range, so the water resources assessment is difficult and complicated. The water resources assessment method was explored by taking water diversion project from Hanjiang River to Weihe River as an example. According to the characteristics of this project and guideline of water resources assessment of the constructed projects, by considering the water intake and discharge scheme, the level of wa-ter resources assessment was determined and the influence caused by water intake was analyzed, based on which the conclusion of the water resources assessment was put forward. The results showed that the annual average water diversion amount of 1 billion m3 in immediate level year is feasible. The conclusion was applied in the report of water resources assessment of water diversion pro-ject from Hanjiang River to Weihe River, which provided basis for approval of water intake license acquisition.
