台湾民进党在2008年的总统、立法大选中惨败，政权又重新回到长期执政的国民党手中。民进党失利的原因主要包括它在台湾政治中的反对党角色和它并没有履行削弱腐败、保持经济福利的竞选承诺，尤其是民进党一直追求台湾独立的政策是其败选的重要原因，因此，一个政党若要在台湾获得执政地位，必须要有效应对岛民的经济福利诉求，更重要的是它的政策必须能够保持台海地区稳定。
檯灣民進黨在2008年的總統、立法大選中慘敗，政權又重新迴到長期執政的國民黨手中。民進黨失利的原因主要包括它在檯灣政治中的反對黨角色和它併沒有履行削弱腐敗、保持經濟福利的競選承諾，尤其是民進黨一直追求檯灣獨立的政策是其敗選的重要原因，因此，一箇政黨若要在檯灣穫得執政地位，必鬚要有效應對島民的經濟福利訴求，更重要的是它的政策必鬚能夠保持檯海地區穩定。
태만민진당재2008년적총통、입법대선중참패，정권우중신회도장기집정적국민당수중。민진당실리적원인주요포괄타재태만정치중적반대당각색화타병몰유리행삭약부패、보지경제복리적경선승낙，우기시민진당일직추구태만독립적정책시기패선적중요원인，인차，일개정당약요재태만획득집정지위，필수요유효응대도민적경제복리소구，경중요적시타적정책필수능구보지태해지구은정。
The candidate of Democratic Progressive Party was defeated in the historic 2008 presidential elections, and the rein of govern-ment was returned to the long-ruling Nationalist Party. The reasons for the Democratic Progressive's resounding defeat includes its tradi-tional oppositional role in Taiwanese politics, its failure to deliver on its promises to reduce corruption as well as preserve economic well-being especially its constant policy of engaging in Taiwan independence. Therefore, If a party want to get ruling position in Taiwan, it must respond effectively to the demands of economic welfare of Islander, more importantly, its policies must be able to maintain regional stability in the Taiwan Strait.
