Research status of open-pit mine personnel and vehicle positioning system was introduced in the paper, and several location technologies were emphatically introduced: GPS、Radio Frequency Identification(RFID)、ZigBee、WIFI amd UWB. The location systems which based on these technologies were compared and their basic concept and working principle were also introduced. A number of widely-used location systems were presented and the advantages and disadvantages of GPS、RFID、Zigbee、WIFI and UWB were compared, and the application prospect of these technologies were prospected.
