Taking breakwater destruction in a coastal shipyard as background ,the meth-od for designing the deepwater mount breakwater is summarized and the requirements of breakw ater in the new and the old specifications are compared .A renovating plan is pro-posed for the breakwater on the basis of analyzing the causes of the breakwater damage in the shipyard and then optimized through experimental verification by using a physical model.
