国内不少城市存在着大量的一般性古建筑，这些古建筑的日常维护使政府承受着较大的经济压力。因此，在认真研究广州城市一般性古建筑的修复与利用问题之后，认为有效利用一般性古建筑，对强化广州文化形象、延续城市历史文脉、发扬岭南传统文化、加快创意产业的发展速度以及提升城市旅游业的水平均有重要的意义。从青云书院艺术馆的修复改造设计入手，归纳了一般性古建筑的文化特征以及保护与利用的问题，探讨了改造设计的方向与方法，进而提出了一般性古建筑改造设计的理论依据，目的是要使一般性古建筑得到合理利用，且能重新焕发生机。

General historic buildings exist in many cities in China and the maintenance cost poses enormous economic pressure on the government. Therefore, after looking into the case of Guangzhou in detail, it is widely accepted that repairing and modifying those buildings would be of great signiifcance to establish Guangzhou as a city of splendorous culture and promising future. With the case of Qingyun College, the paper attempts to draw people’s attention of the protection and utilization of historic buildings, discuss plans for repair and modiifcation, and revitalize general historic buildings by summarizing feasible theories and carrying out practical programs.
