Summarized was the recent progress in the study of the physiological effects of brassinosteroids on osmotic adjustment, water conservation, anti-oxidation system, growth and development in plants, as well as their physiological and molecular mechanisms. Gene signaling pathways of BR regulating plant drought adaptability were particularly addressed. It was found that there existed a complex interaction of"cross talk"between these pathways and other major drought hormones such as abscisic acid. It can be argued that the innovative research in this field will serve asa theoretical basis for achieving breakthroughs in the practical application of BR.
