长期以来，日本国内对钓鱼岛的历史观，主要分两大派，一派从狭隘利己主义出发，不顾历史事实，认为钓鱼岛是日本“固有领土”；另一派是从历史唯物论出发，尊重历史事实，认为钓鱼岛是中国最早发现的，是中国领土。日本政府“购买”钓鱼岛的活动，破坏了中日两国所达成的“搁置争议”的共识。日本应该端正历史观，重视友好，展开谈判，以缓和矛盾，进而公平合理地解决钓鱼岛争端。
장기이래，일본국내대조어도적역사관，주요분량대파，일파종협애이기주의출발，불고역사사실，인위조어도시일본“고유령토”；령일파시종역사유물론출발，존중역사사실，인위조어도시중국최조발현적，시중국령토。일본정부“구매”조어도적활동，파배료중일량국소체성적“각치쟁의”적공식。일본응해단정역사관，중시우호，전개담판，이완화모순，진이공평합리지해결조어도쟁단。
There have been mainly two different historical viewpoints of the Diaoyu Islands in Japan: One is from narrow self-interest to remain obdurate and pervert the truth, saying that the Diaoyu Islands are“inherent territory”of Japan;the other is from historical materialism to respect facts and history, believing that the Diaoyu Islands were originally discovered by China and have consequently become Chinese territory. Japan’s unlawful“purchase”of China’s Diaoyu Islands has destroyed the consensus of ”putting the disputes aside” reached be-tween the two countries. It is considered that Japan should correct its historical viewpoint, attach importance to friendship, and go on negotiations, in order to dissolve contradictions and to solve the dispute over the Diaoyu Islands fairly and reasonably.
