    In this paper ,T he application of GPS in earthquake monitoring is discussed . The use of GPS data in studying regional principal strain rate ,surface expansion rate and maximum shear strain rate distribution ,and earthquake prediction are studied .Finally ,the shortage of earthquake prediction for GPS ,as well as specific methods in promoting the de-velopment of earthquake prediction is introduced .
