研究过程的工作质量与产品的质量的测定——过程产品不合格品率和过程能力指数的关系，前者是反映生产过程（批）中的工作质量的指标，而不反映产品本身的质量；而后者不仅可以描述过程的工作质量水平而且特别关注产品本身（注意到σ的计算这里的产品并不是指一件产品）的质量；好的（理想的）不合格品率谨是好的过程能力的必要条件；要改进过程产品质量水平就不能只满足于保持基本的合格品率，还应该进一步查找问题，分析波动产生的原因。
