通过在掘进机后方履带下垫背木等，增加履带与底板的摩擦力来使掘进机前行；在坡度更大时，采取钢丝绳配合刮板输送机链条及连接环把锚索与切割头大油缸固定在一起，通过缩回切割头大油缸，拉紧钢丝绳和链条往前行走；另外通过改变掘进机切割路线，更好地避免掘进机下滑后退，成功地通过了DF24正断层。
