The forming process of cover plate chain piece was presented. In order to opti-mize the forming process and quality of chain pieces, some aspects such as material selec-tion and improvement of process, etc were adopted. The broaching method in machining was used in the finishing stamping of chain piece hole to improve the section quality and satisfy the requirements for the parts. Then the design of punch for broaching recondition was introduced.
