Diesel engine technology has got great development in the recent half century, has been improved significantly in terms of performance measures. The paper reviewed the technology development of pressur-ized mechanical fuel system, cooling and electronic control of fuel injection, focuses on the role of techno-logical progress on diesel engine energy-saving emission reduction, and pointed out the advantages of the electronic controlled common rail system.
