族（家）谱对于社会、国家的细胞---家族（家庭）而言，具有与国史、方志相仿的价值和意义。前人曾概括志书有资治、存史、教化三大功能，谱牒也不例外，不过，其顺序应稍作调整，即：存史、资治、教化。湖南安仁港头（新渡）陈氏历代所修族谱是体现这三大功能的一个比较典型的样品。
族（傢）譜對于社會、國傢的細胞---傢族（傢庭）而言，具有與國史、方誌相倣的價值和意義。前人曾概括誌書有資治、存史、教化三大功能，譜牒也不例外，不過，其順序應稍作調整，即：存史、資治、教化。湖南安仁港頭（新渡）陳氏歷代所脩族譜是體現這三大功能的一箇比較典型的樣品。
족（가）보대우사회、국가적세포---가족（가정）이언，구유여국사、방지상방적개치화의의。전인증개괄지서유자치、존사、교화삼대공능，보첩야불예외，불과，기순서응초작조정，즉：존사、자치、교화。호남안인항두（신도）진씨역대소수족보시체현저삼대공능적일개비교전형적양품。
For a clan (or a family ) ,a cell of the society or the country ,the genealogy has almost the same value and significance as the historical records of the country or the local chronicles .Some predecessors summed up the three functions of the historical records of the country or the local chronicles as mirroring ,history-keeping and educating .A Clan’s genealogy also has these functions ,only the first and the second functions change posi-tion .In Gangtou (xindu) Anren Hunan ,Chen clan’s genealogy is a typical case .
