蚌埠作为“铁路拉出来的”单纯的商贸型城市，由于没有传统金融制度的制约，一些新型的金融业务得以推行，并富有特色。1923年，蚌埠几家主要银行联合创立了中国第一家专门负责组织贴现的贴现公所，虽具贴现市场的雏形，却未能得到充分发展和推广，原因在于蚌埠商埠的特殊性及铁路押汇难以推进。

As a pure business-oriented city which is depend on railroad ,there isn′t restriction of traditional financial system in Bengbu ,and some of the new financial services can be carried out and they are very distinctive .In 1923 ,several major banks of Bengbu co-founded Chinese first Discounted Hall which was dedicated to organizing the discount .Although it was the prototype of the discount market ,it failed to get the full development and promotion .The reason is that the particularity of Bengbu commercial port and the difficulty of promoting railway draft .
