字典词典中对“隍”的解释基本上是“无水的护城壕”，但是日常生活中人们常用的“城隍”以及“城隍庙”，用上述意义似乎无法解释。本文旨在梳理“隍”字意义的流变，并且对各类辞书所释义引证进行归类，总结梳理“隍”字各项意义之间的关联性。
