Based on the analysis of the error parameter identification method in domestic and foreign, the testing process and procedure of the diagonal method about the nc machine tool volumetric geometric error is presented in detail. Sequential steep along the diagonals was proposed which can identify subentry errors of machine tool, comprehensive recognition space element of the 21 items of geometric error was taken, so as to provide theoretical basis for subsequent machine tool error compensation.
