明清时期，由于人口增多而大量的土地开发，导致了湖南自然生态环境的恶化，表现在湖南植被的破坏和洞庭湖区域灾害的频繁。落后的生产开发方式是生态环境破坏的主要原因；经济利益的诱导，使得人们追求金钱，忽略了生态环境的重要性；经济作物及农作物的推广，进一步加剧了生态环境的恶化。
명청시기，유우인구증다이대량적토지개발，도치료호남자연생태배경적악화，표현재호남식피적파배화동정호구역재해적빈번。락후적생산개발방식시생태배경파배적주요원인；경제이익적유도，사득인문추구금전，홀략료생태배경적중요성；경제작물급농작물적추엄，진일보가극료생태배경적악화。
In Ming and Qing Dynasties , due to increased population and a lot of land had been developed , the deterioration of the natural ecological environment in Hunan had been made , such as the vegetation damage and frequent disasters in Dongting Lake area in Hunan province .The main reason is contributed to the backward production approach , the economic benefits for which peo-ple pursued and the ignored protection of the ecological environment .Promotion of economic crops and crops are further exacerbated the deterioration of ecological environment .
