通过对学习者目标需求和社会需求两方面的调查，发现英语专业技能课程需要占较大比例，除此之外，与英语相关的其它专业知识和技能颇受学习者和用人单位欢迎，而单纯的英语知识和技能已不能满足社会对人才的需求。因此，构建以需求为导向的“零距离”理论教学体系、实践教学体系、能力拓展体系及应用型师资队伍是培养应用型人才的必要途径。
