A ground fault arisen by the poor contact is introduced in this paper. Because the installation of the conducting rod was not in place, the bad contact leads to the heating and melting of the contacts, resulting in the single-phase ground fault. Based on the analysis of the structure of GIS contact, several proposals are put forward for the early detection of the bad contacts of GIS and the handing over test.
