A method for determination of the content of ammonium nitrate (AN) crystals separated out from the waste propellant of emulsion explosive has been proposed. Using this method, the content of the AN crystals separated out from the waste propellant samples of emulsion explosive is determined, and then using it to guide the formulation design of the emulsion explosive containing waste propellant. The explosion properties of the emulsion explosive product was tested, the results meet the standard of GB18095-2000 Emulsion Explosive, which indicates that the method can be used to guide the recovery of the waste propellant of emulsion explosive.
