Using Appraisal Theory as a tool to compare three English versions of Jiang Cheng Zi with the source version in order to investigate the degree of faithfulness to the source version in the process of translation, as well as the reasons of the“unfaithful”phenomena in translation. This can provide a new perspective for the practice of translation so as to improve the quality of transla-tion.
