The overall mechanical structure,working principle and installation method about the electric spindle of five-axis gan-try wood engraving machine were described. The five-axis wood engraving Computer Numerical Control (CNC)machine based on a double swing (A/C)electric spindle was a large gantry type structure with fixed beam and column,having the characteristics of large machining span,high machining efficiency and high stiffness,and so on,which was adapted to batch or precision machining. The three-dimensional modeling of the key components of the gantry beam was built,and analysis of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) static rigidity was conducted. The analysis results show that the designed five-axis gantry wood engraving CNC machine meets the stiff-ness requirement.
