In this paper, the screw rotor profile of three widely used screw vacuum pumps were analyzed, including the ones with Archimedes , involutes and trochoid , and the advantages and disadvantages of their meshing characteristic as well as their profile were compared. Then it elaborates the turning methods for screw machining, establishes the machining model for three kinds of screw turning with cutter location point, and gives the basis for the selection of cutting tools. Finally, an efficient milling method for screw machining is introduced, and a practical precise measuring method is recommended for screw machining.
