The liquid radioactive waste generated by nuclear power plant is treated and discharged through the discharge system into the environment .According to the requirements of Standards ,the radioactive concentra-tion of the treated liquid radioactive waste and liquid effluent should undergo the real-time online monitoring and be separated into the different levels of radioactive wastes prior to being discharged to the environment . This paper introduces the principle of measurement and control ,selection of instruments ,monitoring process and existing problems in practice .
